Spain's Film Factory Entertainment has snapped up director Albert Pinto's next suspense thriller Barren Land.

Pinto is most known for his superhit series Money Heist and its spinoff Berlin. He has also made Nowhere.

Barren Land (Tierra De Nadie in Spanish) has been conceptualised by producer Alvaro Ariza and is penned by Fernando Navarro. Navarro has to his credits Below Zero and Veronica in Netflix.

Barren Land, as the name suggests, is about a once thriving community of Southern Spain that is hit by the rampant drug trade. The action unravels in Cadiz province and expands to the Straits of Gibraltar. The thriller focuses on three characters whose paths diverge due to the situation in Southern Spain.

Producer Ariza believes that the series gains depth from its social edge. The film will be accorded a theatrical release in Spain by Sony Pictures Entertainment Iberia next year.
