Dave Bautista's My Spy 2, titled My Spy: The Eternal City, is all set to premiere on Prime Video on July 18, the streamer announced on Thursday. The film is a sequel to the 2020 family comedy, My Spy

The sequel will also star actors from the first film in the series, including, Chloe Coleman, Kristen Schaal, and Ken Jeong. Additionally, Anna Faris, Craig Robinson, and Flula Borg have been added to the sequel's cast.

The original My Spy followed JJ, a CIA operative monitoring the in-laws of a dangerous illegal arms dealer who may be in possession of plans for a small nuclear weapon. During the mission, however, he ends up the pawn of the family's 9-year-old daughter who blackmails him into teaching her tricks of the spy trade and spending time with her. The film ended on a lighthearted note with JJ moving in with Sophie and her mother Kate in Chicago after being re-instated with the CIA.

My Spy: The Eternal City will start by showing Sophie as a teenager persuading JJ to chaperone a school trip to Italy and to Rome (sometimes called the Eternal City). As expected the trip goes haywire when they find themselves forced to stop an international terrorist plot targeting Sophie's best friend, Colin and his father, who happens to be CIA chief David Kim.

My Spy: The Eternal City is helmed by Peter Segal who directed the prequel. Jon and Erich Hoeber have written the script for the film. The film's extended cast also includes Billy Barratt, Taeho K, Nicola Correia-Damude, Noah Dalton Danby, and Devere Rogers, some of them reprising their role from My Spy
