From Barbie to One Piece this has been a period of live-action adaptations. The famous anime and manga One-Punch Man is getting a similar treatment from Sony Columbia Pictures.

It was earlier reported that Venom screenwriters Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg were previously attached to write the One-Punch Man film. The latest update is that the writers are being replaced by Rick and Morty's creator, Dan Harmon, and its co-executive producer, Heather Anne Campbell. The duo were chosen due to their extensive experience in the comedy writing background which would complement the humour found in the manga well. With hope that the film will be the first of a One-Punch Man franchise, Avi Arad and Ari Arad of Arad Productions will produce the film.

First published in 2009 and best known for its 2015 adaptation, the ongoing manga revolves around an unlucky hero, Saitama who lives in the world of superheroes that fights deadly global threats. However, Saitama has the unique, incredibly overpowered ability to take out villains with just a single punch.

A release date for the One-Punch Man live-action film is yet to be announced.
