The co-CEO of DC Studios, James Gunn, announced that they have started filming the second season of Peacemaker. Starring John Cena in the titular role, the superhero show was created by Gunn in 2022. The first season also starred Danielle Brooks, Chukwudi Iwuji, Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee and Robert Patrick.

The director had earlier confirmed that Peacemaker is part of his current reboot of the DC cinematic universe. The series is a spinoff of the 2021 film, The Suicide Squad, which was also written and directed by James Gunn.

The shooting is expected to take place until September, with a release date to be announced by the end of the year. Meanwhile, James Gunn is also currently filming Superman, which was earlier titled Superman: Legacy. Scheduled to release on July 11, 2025, the film has David Corenswet playing Clark Kent/Superman and Rachel Brosnahan playing Lois Lane.
