Interstellar to rerelease in Imax 70mm later this year

CE Features

Filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s science-fiction film Interstellar is rereleasing on September 27, 2024, marking its tenth anniversary. Paramount Pictures made the announcement of the film's rerelease at the 2024 CinemaCon, the conference of exhibition industry players in Las Vegas. The makers will distribute Interstellar on 70mm Imax, one of the formats that filmmaker Nolan prefers, and digital screens.

The news comes shortly after actor Anne Hathaway expressed her gratitude towards Nolan for casting her in the film, despite her growing toxic reputation online at the time. The film also stars Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Chastain, Matt Damon, Timothée Chalamet, Mackenzie Foy, Michael Caine, Casey Affleck, and John Lithgow. It revolves around a group of astronauts who travel to outer space in search of a more habitable planet as dust storms and blights herald a dystopian earth.

A co-produced venture between Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros., Interstellar set a high benchmark for visual effects, for which Paul Franklin, Andrew Lockley, Scott Fisher, and Ian Hunter won an Oscar in 2015. Apart from its resplendent filmmaking and mindboggling ideas, it is known for Hans Zimmer's meditative original score that set the tone for the epic sci-fi saga with echoes of Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey.
