Damien Chazelle, who has won the Oscar for La La Land, has set his next with Paramount Pictures. The film will be based on an original script written by the filmmaker himself. While plot details are yet to be disclosed, the film will reportedly be set in a prison.

Chazelle will also produce the film under his Wild Chickens banner along with his partner Olivia Hamilton. There is no clarity on when the film will go on floors, or regarding the cast. However, Paramount and Chazelle are expected to begin casting soon. The film is expected to hit theatres in 2025 or 2026.

This film is the first film coming from the overall deal between the director and Paramount. He signed the deal in 2022 after working with the studio on Babylon, his last outing. He and Hamilton are also producing a couple of films at the studio, including Heart of the Beast which recently announced David Ayer as the director.

Chazelle started his career as a filmmaker with Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench in 2009. He then helmed Whiplash in 2014. He has received three Oscar nominations, 2 for La La Land and 1 for Whiplash, out of which he won Best Director for the former.
