Community star Alison Brie revealed a key piece of information about the sitcom-based film in the pipeline. Speaking on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the actor said that she read the screenplay for the highly-anticipated film based on her sitcom Community.

“We got a script, which is a major update,” Brie revealed on the TV program. “We got a script — you heard it here first.”

Describing the screenplay as "funny," Brie revealed that a filming window is still being considered for it. Brie also talked about what she wants her Community film character to be like.

“I hope that Annie hasn’t changed too much because I loved her just the way she was,” Brie said.

For the uninitiated, Community is a six-season sitcom; NBC screened its first five seasons and Yahoo! Screen showed its sixth season. It starred Brie, Joel McHale, Danny Pudi, Gillian Jacobs, Donald Glover, Yvette Nicole Brown, Chevy Chase, Jim Rash, and Ken Jeong.

Peacock announced the film in 2022, with Andrew Guest and the original show's creator Dan Harmon to write its screenplay.

McHale said in a recent interview with Deadline that it would go on floors in 2024, depending on his Community costar Glover's schedule.
