Writer Beau Willimon will join director James Mangold to co-write Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi, according to reports.

The movie will be the origin story of the forces which is set 25,000 years before all the Star Wars story. It was announced at last year's Star Wars Celebration in London.

Willimon has to his credit the Star Wars series Andor for Disney+ and the acclaimed political drama House of Cards for Netflix. He was part of several films nominated for the Oscars such as The Ides of March, directed by and starring George Clooney, and Mary Queen of Scots, starring Saoirse Ronan and Margot Robbie.

The Ford v Ferrari director, meanwhile, is working on A Complete Unknown for Seachlight Pictures, starring Timothee Chalamet as Bob Dylan.

The next film of Star Wars franchise that will be distributed is The Mandalorian & Grogu, which is slated for a release on May 22, 2026.
