First glimpses of Christian Bale and Jessie Buckley in The Bride out

CE Features

Earlier, we reported that Maggie Gyllenhaal is directing a Bride of Frankenstein retelling, with Christian Bale attached to the project as its lead. Now, Gyllenhaal has shared the posters of Bale and his co-star Jessie Buckley's characters in The Bride, alongside a clapboard that gives basic information about the film. Judging by what the clipboard contains, Lawrence Sher is attached to the project as its cinematographer.

Bale's image shows the actor striking an intense pose, featuring stitches to his body as well as the word love on his chest. Bale is reportedly playing Frankenstein’s monster and Buckley is playing the titular character in the film.

James Whale directed The Bride of Frankenstein, which came out in 1935 and told the story of how his scientist creator encouraged Frankenstein to make a mate for him.

Apart from Bale and Buckley, the film stars Peter Sarsgaard, Penélope Cruz, and Annette Bening.
