Jonathan Bailey and Felicity Jones are not attached to act in the a comedy film Maria, according to a Variety report. The film is reportedly on pause following scheduling concerns that stemmed from the 2023 Hollywood strikes, but Simon Amstell is still in line to bring the project back on track.

Jones was all set to play the film's titular character, a woman with difficulty forming an amicable relationship with her father. As per the film's logline, Maria and her stepbrother Raffy get into a contentious relationship.

On the other hand, Bailey was in line for Maria's boyfriend character. The makers of the film also cast Jason Isaacs as Maria's father.

According to Variety, the team of creators behind Maria expects to revive the film with a whole new cast.
