The Equalizer 3 earns USD 185 million at the worldwide box office

CE Features

The Equalizer 3, the final chapter of The Equalizer, has earned $185 million at the global box office. Starring Denzel Washington in the lead role, the film is directed by Antoine Fuqua. It also stars Dakota Fanning and David Denman in prominent roles.

According to Collider, the film grossed nearly $92 million domestically and $93 million internationally. Despite the feat, the film has failed to surpass the box office credit of the previous Equalizer films. The first film, released in 2014, grossed $192 million worldwide, while the second film earned $191 million.

The film, which was released in theatres on September 1, opened to mixed reception. An excerpt from the CE review of the film read, "A slow-burn actioner that takes forever to gain momentum. Despite a brilliant performance by Denzel Washington and a refreshing setting, Equalizer 3 is overtly self-indulgent, which makes it feel like a filler episode."

The film's official logline read, "Since giving up his life as a government assassin, Robert McCall (Denzel Washington) has struggled to reconcile the horrific things he's done in the past and finds a strange solace in serving justice on behalf of the oppressed. Finding himself surprisingly at home in Southern Italy, he discovers his new friends are under the control of local crime bosses. As events turn deadly, McCall knows what he has to do: become his friends' protector by taking on the mafia.

Written by Richard Wenk, The Equalizer franchise is based on the 1980s TV series of the same title created by Michael Sloan and Richard Lindheim.
