Actor Matthew Perry, who is best known for playing the character Chandler Bing from the much-popular American sitcom Friends, breathed his last on Sunday at the age of 54 due to a drowning incident at his home in Los Angeles. Mourning the loss, the show's co-creators, Marta Kauffman and David Crane, along with the show's executive producer Kevin Bright, issued an official statement. 

In the official statement shared by Deadline, the creators said that Mathew being part of their life was a blessing, "We are shocked and deeply, deeply saddened by our beloved friend Matthew's passing. It still seems impossible. All we can say is that we feel blessed to have had him as part of our lives." 

Matthew portrayed Chandler Bing for 10 seasons of Friends, from 1994 to 2004,  alongside Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer, essaying other prominent characters. 

In the statement, the team further reminisced upon how Matthew bagged the role of  Chandler Bing, " He was a brilliant talent. It's a cliche to say that an actor makes a role their own, but in Matthew's case, there are no truer words. From the day we first heard him embody the role of Chandler Bing, there was no one else for us." 

The creators concluded the official statement by Mentioning Matthew's demise as The One Where Our Hearts Are Broken," We will always cherish the joy, the light, the blinding intelligence he brought to every moment – not just to his work, but in life as well. He was always the funniest person in the room. More than that, he was the sweetest, with a giving and selfless heart.

We send all of our love to his family and friends. This truly is The One Where Our Hearts Are Broken."

It is to be noted that Kauffman, Crane and Bright reunited with Perry and the rest of the Friends cast for the 2021 reunion special on Max. 

Further information about the death is yet to be known.
