The third instalment of Deadpool 3 isn't arriving anytime soon. The much-awaited film will not release on May 3, 2024, as planned because of the ongoing actors strike.

Shedding light on the release of the film, Shawn Levy said that the release date is at “true risk” due to the production pause after actors joined writers on the picket line. 

Levy explained, “I don't even know if we officially have [a release date]. I know we were gonna be May 3. Certainly, the actors' strike and the long pause in production have put that release date in true risk,” as per TheWrap.

Amidst the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes on July 14, Deadpool 3 production came to an abrupt halt. The union's agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) allowed for a resolution in the latter case on September 27, but the actors' strike is still in effect and shows no signs of abating anytime soon. 

Deadpool 3 will be the first R-rated film set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With Hugh Jackman starring as Wolverine, it will be his final appearance as the character. The film is helmed by Shawn Levy who has worked with Ryan Reynolds in Free Guy and The Adam Project, while he worked with Hugh in Reel Steal.

Morena Baccarin, Emma Corrin, and Stefan Kapicic are also part of the cast.
