An animated series on Walt Disney's character Tiana, is in the making at Disney+ with Joyce Sherri roped in as the lead writer and director of the show.

The project was initially announced in 2020 and expected to be a continuation of the 2009 animated film The Princess and the Frog which served as the introduction to Tiana. Anika Noni Rose will be lending the voice for the titular role. Joyce has previously worked as a writer in Netflix horror series Midnight Mass and helmed a few short films.

Tiana will be launched in 2024. Following the lead character, Tiana will follow her as she "sets off for a grand new adventure as the newly crowned Princess of Maldonia, but a calling to her New Orleans past isn’t far behind", as per Variety report.

Walt Disney Animation Studios will back the show.
