Veteran directors and icons Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg will be teaming up to adapt classic thriller Cape Fear for television. The filmmakers will produce the series along with Nick Antosca who will serve as show runner and writer of the show.

It is expected that the show will have a modernised adaptation and take on the US' fascination for crime. The series is said to revolve around a lawyer couple who are made to face their past after a criminal is released from jail. The series is currently in pre-production stage.

It is to be noted that the 1991 film Cape Fear was helmed by Scorsese after it was passed on by Spielberg who was supposed to have directed it. Instead, he ended up making Schindler's List which Scorsese was working on.

Scorsese's version is a remake of the 1962 film of the same name, which itself is based on the 1957 novel.
