The feature length animated adaptation of the Nintendo game, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which released in April, will be premiere on Netflix on December 3, the streaming platform announced on social media.

The film is a joint production by Universal Pictures, Illumination Entertainment and Nintendo. Directed by Aaron Horvath, and Michael Jelenic, the film has Chris Pratt voicing Mario while Anya-Taylor Joy voices Princess Peach, Charlie Day voices Luigi, and Jack Black voices Bowser.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie is a testament to the power of animation to infuse life into a story, even when the writing fails to supply any. The film walks, talks, and behaves like a competent animated adventure but it is hard to shake the feeling that beneath the layers of visual splendour, the film is little more than a hasty attempt to milk the most out of a beloved video game franchise,” reads CE review of the film.
