Mufasa: The Lion King to release on this date

The upcoming The Lion King spin off, Mufasa: The Lion King, will be now releasing in theatres on December 20, 2024 after it was previously scheduled to arrive on July 5, 2024.

Mufasa: The Lion King is expected to release alongside Sonic the Hedgehog 3.

The upcoming film will be a prequel of the 2019 live action remake of animated film Mufasa: The Lion King. The film will revolve around the titular character and how he rose to be the king of his pack.

While Aaron Pierre will lend his voice for younger version of Mufasa, Kelvin Harrison Jr will voice for Scar. Others part of the cast include Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, and John Kani as Pumbaa, Tomon and Rafiki respectively.

Jeff Nathanson, the screenwriter who penned the 2019 screenplay for the previous computer-generated adaptation of The Lion King, once again returns to write the script for Mufasa: The Lion King. Nathanson will also serve as a producer on the project. Barry Jenkins will direct.
