Josh Andres Rivera to play footballer Aaron Hernandez in American Sports Story

Patrick Schwarzenegger will play sports broadcaster Tim Tebow

Actor Josh Andrés Rivera will be essaying the role of American footballer Aaron Hernandez, while Patrick Schwarzenegger will play sports broadcaster Tim Tebow in the upcoming project titled American Sports Story for FX.

First ordered in August 2021, the project was designed to be a scripted anthological limited series which will throw light on prominent personalities and events of the sporting world, but seen through today's lens. The first season will be based on Gladiator: Aaron Hernandez and Football Inc podcast.

The season will concentrate on the ups and downs of Aaron, exploring his legacy, life and profession. Aaron was arrested and convicted for the murder of Odin Lloyd and died by suicide in prison in 2017.

While the shooting has begun, it is currently on hold due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. The season is written by Stu Zicherman who will also executive produce it along with Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson.

It is to be noted that American Sports Story is part of the bigger project American Story which also includes American Love Story, American Crime Story, American Horror Story.
