On Saturday, veteran filmmaker Martin Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon premiered at the 76th Cannes Film Festival. Critically acclaimed filmmaker Alfonso Cuarón who caught the premiere has showered praises upon the film.

In a conversation with Variety, Gravity's director said," It's an amazing masterpiece (Killers of the Flower Moon). This is a filmmaker in amazing pure form. He's fearless about his filmmaking choices and decisions, and he's allowing himself to do it with no safety net.

Killers of the Flower Moon stars Leonardo Di Caprio, Robert De Niro and Lily Gladstone in prominent roles. The film received a standing ovation 9 minutes after the premiere.

The 3 hours and 26-minute drama tells the story of a dark, largely unexplored chapter of American history. Set in northeastern Oklahoma, the plot follows events as members of the Osage Nation are murdered in a systematic fashion for sinister ends.

Killers of the Flower Moon is backed by Apple with a big budget of over $200, and is scheduled to be released in select theaters on October 6 before a wide release in the United States on October 20 by Paramount Pictures.
