Monica Bellucci joins the cast of Michael Keaton-led Beetlejuice 2

The film marks the reunion of filmmaker Tim Burton and actors Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder

Monica Bellucci has joined the cast of the star-studded Beetlejuice 2, and as per reports, she is all set to star in the role of Beetlejuice's wife. Previously, the makers announced that Justin Theroux will be playing the lead alongside Michael Keaton.

The film marks the reunion of filmmaker Tim Burton and actors Keaton and Winona Ryder, after their stint together in the 1988 original supernatural comedy. Additionally, Wednesday-fame Jenna Ortega is also a part of the cast, and she will be seen as Ryder’s daughter. 

The original Beetlejuice also starred Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Jeffrey Jordan, and Catherine O'Hara among others. The film grossed $80 million and scored a Best Makeup Oscar at the 1989 Academy Awards. 

The plot details of Beetlejuice 2 are kept under wraps by the makers. However, it is known that the film will be a direct sequel to Burton's 1988 original BeetlejuiceBeetlejuice 2 is set to release on September 6, 2024.
