Actor Tom Hanks recently stated that Idris Elba would be the best fit to play James Bond. According to BBC, he said, "Understand this. James Bond has a licence to kill. I would issue that licence to Idris Elba just based on the work that I've seen him do."

While there have been speculations that Elba would play Ian Fleming's iconic role, the actor refuted it.

Earlier, he also clarified to The Guardian that although he remained close with the producers of Bond, they were not in talks with him for any role. 

"I can't speak for them, but from my perspective, there's never been any sort of truth to any of it. It's a compliment and it's an honour, but it's not the truth."
