The Writer's Guild of America (WGA) has begun a strike following several rounds of discussion with Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers resulted in studios and producers refusing to negotiate some of the WGA proposals that involved improving the working conditions of writers.

In last March, WGA and AMPTP had several rounds of negotiations that can improve the working conditions, leading to better pay and other amenities. The writers' association also put forth a demand of minimal insurance when getting fired suddenly and protection against AI generated results replacing writers.

However, AMPTP had refused the demands and did not offer any counterproposal in addition to refusing to discuss the proposals sent by the writer's guild. The strike will result in projects getting delayed, along with shows getting cancelled, gradually decreasing the size of content.

Some of the shows like Cobra Kai have announced that they will not be working and nothing on season 6 will be written. Actors like Elizabeth Olsen, Brett Goldstein, Rob Lowe, Amanda Seyfried, have also shown their support to the writers. However, on the other hand, shows like House of the Dragon season two, will be unaffected by the strike with their scripts on hand already. The makers will continue filming the show in the UK.
