Lena Headey to star in series The Abandons

Lena Headey, who is most known for her role as Cersei Lannister in the Game of Thrones series, will be headlining an upcoming Netflix action drama series The Abandons.

The series will feature the actor as a Fiona, a matriarch who adopts four orphans after being unable to have children of her own. Fiona is a woman of determination and will go to any lengths to protect what is hers, drawing parallel to her character Cersei.

The Abandons tells the story of a group of diverse families pursuing their Manifest Destiny in1850s Oregon. These abandoned souls live on the fringes of society, and must unite their tribes to fight against a corrupt force of wealth and power that’s trying to drive them out of their land. The Western drama will explore the bloody consequences of fighting for one’s home as the line between survival and law is blurred,” reads the logline.

The show is created and executive produced by show runner Kurt Sutter.
