JC Lee to direct the English-language remake of Thai film Bad Genius

JC Lee, best known for penning Viola Davis-starrer How to Get Away with Murder, is set to wear a director's hat with the English-language remake of the Thai hit film Bad Genius. Lee has also written the English-language screenplay along with Julius Onah. 

 The original film, titled Chalard Games Goeng, was written and directed by Nattawut Poonpiriya. The film revolves around a group of high school student who makes money after developing elaborate methods to help other students cheat. The English remake is billed as a thriller in which diverse young people team up to fight injustice and inequality in the academic institutions around them.

Bankrolled by Picturestart and Picture Perfect Federation, the remake stars Callina Liang, Jabari Banks, and Benedict Wong in prominent roles. 

Meanwhile, Bad Genius marks JC Lee's debut directorial venture. His writing and producing credits apart from How to Get Away with Murder include Luce, The Morning Show and Looking

The film will go on floors in May.
