Wicked: Part 1 gets a new release date

The film was earlier scheduled to release on December 25

Filmmaker Jon M Chu's Wicked: Part 1, the big-screen adaptation of the hit Broadway musical, has got a new release date.

The film, which was supposed to release on December 25 will now hit the theatres on November 27. The film is headlined by Ariana Grande as Glinda and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba. Wicked is a prequel to The Wizard of Oz, telling the story of how Elphaba turned into the Wicked Witch of the West and how Glinda became the Good Witch. The film also stars Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Jonathan Bailey and Ethan Slater. Marc Platt is producing the film for his Universal-based Marc Platt Productions, with David Stone.
