Oscars 2023: James Friend bags award under Best Cinematography category

James Friend bagged the Oscar award for Best Cinematography category for the All Quiet in the Western Front at the ceremony held on Monday.

Accepting the award, James thanked his family and everyone who made it possible for him to win the award. “What an honour! Thank you for my fellow nominees, your work Is outstanding and inspiring. Thank you for my entire crew for making this happen for me and making me look better,” the technician said.

All Quiet on the Western Front is 2022 German anti-war film which was adapted from the 1929 novel by the same name, authored by Erich Maria Remarque. It was directed by Edward Berger and stars Felix Kammerer, Albrecht Schunch, Daniel Bruhl, among others. The film was edited by Sven Brudelmann and has music by Volker Bertelmaan.
