Anthony Anderson is all set to star in Public Defenders, an ABC series. This will mark the actor's second single-camera comedy, after his work in Black-ish. The pilot is to be directed by Randall Einhorn, from a script written by Eddie Quintana. Liz Astrof is the showrunner of the series. 

Public Defenders revolves around four inexperienced public defenders who work tirelessly to keep their clients out of jail, as they're too deep into student loan debt. They rely on one another along the way, as they navigate the absurd court system, their first defendants and the copy machine that always jams. 

Anderson is all set to play the role of the public defender's boss, Marshall. Marshall is someone who has seen all kinds of public defenders, and as deputy-in-charge, he sees it as his responsibility to transform his deputies into great defence attorneys. He is a character who loves them deeply, but can only express it through tough love. 

Anderson, Quintana, Einhorn, Astrof, Mary Viola and Corey Marsh will be executive producing Public Defenders on behalf of Wonderland Sound and Vision and Artists First’s E. Brian Dobbins.
