Titanic actor Lew Palter passes away

The actor essayed the role of Isidor Straus in the James Cameron directorial

Actor Lew Palter, who is best known for playing Isidor Straus in James Cameron helmed 1997 film Titanic passed away. He succumbed to lung cancer. He was 94. 

According to Hollywood Reporter, the actor died on May 21 at his home in Los Angeles. Born in Brooklyn, New York, on November 3, 1928, Lew Palter had a stint of experience in Broadway plays. He was part of a slew of New York production. He began to appear on screen in 1967 with an appearance in the television series Run for Your Life. In 1971, Palter became a part of CalArts, where he worked as both an acting teacher and director until his retirement in 2013 at the Santa Clarita school.

In Titanic (1997), Palter as Isidor appeared alongside  Elsa Raven as his wife, Ida. As the water rushes inside the ship, the image of the duo embracing on a bed is regarded as one of the most heart-wrenching moments in the film. 

Apart from Titanic, Lew Palter's acting credits include,  The Flying Nun, The Steagle, First Monday in October, The Brady Bunch, The Doris Day Show, Columbo, Baretta, The Waltons, Cagney & Lacey and The A-Team, among others.
