At  San Diego Comic-con in 2023, DC announced that the studio would release an animation film  Watchmen in 2024.

The upcoming Watchmen animation film will be based on the  1986–1987 DC graphic novel of the same name created by Alan Moore, Dave Gibbons and John Higgins. Director Zack Snyder earlier adapted the novel into a live-action in 2019 of the same name with an ensemble cast including Malin Åkerman, Billy Crudup, Matthew Goode and Carla Gugino.

It is to be noted that the 2009 film was accompanied by an animated short, adapting a part from the comic titled Tales of the Black Freighter- this hints at the chances of Watchmen getting a complete animated adaptation. And the same novel was also adapted into a series for HBO in 2019.

Further details about the project are yet to be revealed.
