Avatar: The Way of Water, the James Cameron directorial, is minting big and scripting records at the worldwide box office. According to reports, the film has crossed $2.116 billion in global ticket sales. It has now become the fourth highest-grossing film of all time, surpassing Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

It may be noted that the film grossed 620.5 million in the US and $1.496 billion from overseas regions. And in the global big grossers list, Avatar: The Way of Water is following Titanic ($2.2 billion), Avengers: Endgame (2.79 billion), and the first Avatar ($2.89 billion).  Interestingly, three out of the four highest-grossing films are directed by Cameron.

Avatar: The Way of Water, the sequel to the 2009 blockbuster, is set more than a decade after the story of the first film ends. It follows Jake and Neyitiri as they build their family and battle their past, which seems to be catching up with them. The film stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, and Kate Winslet.
