HBO renews The Last of Us for second season

As the third episode of The Last Of Us' first season is yet to be out, HBO's series adaptation of the 2013 video game developed by Naughty Dog, is moving forward for a new season. HBO announced the news on Friday. 

While there are no details about the release date or how many episodes it will be, HBO only accompanied the announcement with a brief video trailer. More than 22 million domestic viewers have watched the season one premiere episode so far. On the night of the premiere, it was viewed by 4.7 million Americans. The second episode had 5.7 million viewers across HBO Max. 

There will be nine episodes in the first season, as the two episodes down the series have brought 22 percent more viewers from the series premiere to episode two.  

The series has Pedro Pascal playing Joel, and Bella Ramsey playing Ellie.
