Oscar nominations 2023: RRR's Naatu Naatu nominated for Best Original Song

The official nominations for Oscars 2023 were announced today. Naatu Naatu from RRR, which recently won the Golden Globes award for Best Original Song, has been nominated under the same category for the 95th Academy Awards.

It may be noted that Naatu Naatu is the first Indian Original song to be nominated under this category. 

The song, composed by MM Keeravani, has been nominated alongside other works like Applause from Tell It Like A Women by Dianne Warren, Hold My Hand from Top Gun: Maverick by Lady Gaga and Bloodpop, Lift Me Up from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever by Tems, Rihanna, Ryan Coogler and Ludwig Gorannson, and This Is A Life from Everything Everywhere All At Once by Ryann Lott, David Byrne, and Mitski. Naatu Naatu has lyrics penned by Chandrabose while Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairavaa lent their voices. Prem Rakshith choreographed the song which won appreciation all over.  RRR is directed by SS Rajamouli and stars Jr NTR and Ram Charan.

Apart from Naatu Naatu, ALL That Breathes by Shaunak Sen and The Elephant Whisperers by Kartiki Gonsalves made in India, have been nominated under the categories Best Documentary Feature Film and Best Documentary Short Film, respectively.
