Rami Malek to star as silent era star Buster Keaton in biopic

Warner Bros is reportedly developing a limited series on the life of silent era icon Buster Keaton and if reports are to be believed Oscar winner Rami Malek will star as Keaton in the series. Buster Keaton, who started as a vaudeville performer, went on to define the silent era in Hollywood during the early 1900s. He was a performer, comedian, and filmmaker and is best known for his innovative and daring stunt choreography in his films.

The Batman director Matt Reeves will helm the project while also serving as an executive producer along with Rami Malek through his 6th & Idaho Production. Multiple Emmy-winning writer Ted Cohen who is best known for Friends, Veep, and Succession is in talks to serve as a writer and executive producer for the series.

The series will reportedly be based on James Curtis’ Buster Keaton: A Filmmaker’s Life and negotiations are underway to secure the rights for the book. Buster Keaton is an iconic figure who went on to inspire filmmakers like Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, and Jackie Chan.
