Actor Emma Stone is roped in to star in filmmaker Edgar Wright's upcoming feature, The Chain. 

According to The Direct, the film is an adaptation of Adrian McKinty's 2019 award-winning thriller novel. The report notes that Stone will play a mother whose 12-year-old child is kidnapped, and she is forced to kidnap another child to have hers released.

It may be noted that Universal has acquired the rights to the book. Meanwhile, on the professional front, apart from The Chain, Wright will be next adapting Stephen King's The Running Man and Set My Heart to Five. Interestingly, the makers got Stone on board two and a half years after the film was announced. And the production of the film is expected to commence this year. And the film may release anytime between 2024 and 2025.
