Wagner Moura is set to replace Michael Mando to star opposite Brian Tyree Henry in Sinking Spring. The series is Apple TV+'s crime drama, from Top Gun: Maverick writer Peter Craig. Michael Mando, who was originally cast for the role, has been let go after an on-set physical altercation with a fellow cast member. The recasting is being done during the filming of the series.

Sinking Spring is directed and executive produced by Ridley Scott. The series is based on Dope Thief, written by Dennis Tafoya. In Sinking Spring, a group of longtime Philadelphia friends and criminals pretend to be DEA agents in order to rob an unidentified house in the country. Unknowingly, however, they uncover the largest underground drug network on the East Coast, turning their small-time heist into a life-and-death operation.

Wagner Moura will play Manny Cespedes, a good-hearted friend of Ray’s (Brian Tyree Henry), who he first met when they did time together in the Youth Authority. Other cast members of Sinking Spring include Marin Ireland, Kate Mulgrew, Amir Arison, Ving Rhames, Dustin Nguyen, Nesta Cooper, Idris Debrand, Liz Caribel and Will Pulle.
