Emma Mackey confirmed that she won't be reprising her role as Maeve Wiley in Netflix's comedy series Sex Education, after the fourth season.
On the occasion of the 76th British Academy Film Awards on Sunday, the actor disclosed her absence in the fifth season of Sex Education during a conversation with Radio Times. The actor has also won a BAFTA Rising Star Award at the occasion for her portrayal of writer Emily Brontë in the film Emily.
When asked if she'll be back for season five of Sex Education, the actor reciprocated, "Season 5? I just finished the fourth one last week! No, I don't think I'll be in season 5. I've said goodbye to Maeve."
It is also to be noted that earlier, Ncuti Gatwa, who plays the character Eric Effiong had hinted that he would be leaving the show after the upcoming season. Emma and Ncuti will share screen space again in the forthcoming Greta Gerwig's directorial venture Barbie.
It is to be noted that several supporting cast members have left the show, including Simone Ashley, Tanya Reynolds, Patricia Allison, and Rakhee Thakrar, among others.
