Rupert Friend and Evanna Lynch have been cast in the James Joyce biopic James and Lucia. The biopic is about the relationship between the legendary writer and his dancer daughter Lucia Joyce. Evanna will be portraying Lucia for the second time, after the 2019 short Lucia Joyce: Full Capacity.

The already announced cast member of James and Lucia include Minnie Driver playing Joyce's wife Nora, Alex Kingston playing editor and political activist Harriet Weaver, and Derek Jacobi in the role of Swiss ophthalmologist Alfred Vogt.

Robert Mullan will be writing and directing this biopic that reportedly focuses on the final decade of the author's life. Rupert Hollier, Gabrielle Whyte Hard, and Emanuele Moretti will be producing James and Lucia. Additionally, Simon Fawcett will serve as executive producer for Filmtrax Media. James and Lucia is scheduled to commence production in Italy in April. 

Meanwhile, Rupert Friend, who was last seen in Last Looks, has Asteroid City and The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar in various stages of production. He will also be appearing on AppleTV+'s upcoming series, High Desert. Evanna Lynch, on the other hand, is working on Being Betty Flood as a voice actor.
