We know that the I am Legend sequel has been revealed to be under development in early 2022. The scriptwriter, Akiva Goldsman, has confirmed that the sequel will be set decades after the first part and focus on the book's alternate ending.

According to Deadline, Actors Will Smith and Michael B Jordan will star and produce the sequel. Will smith will reprise his role as Robert Neville, but Goldsman would not comment on how the the-last-man-on-earth storyline would incorporate Michael B Jordan's character. Akiva Goldsman also penned The original film, an adaptation of the 1954 Richard Matheson novel.

The script writer also lauded The Last of us and hinted that the series would influence the I am legend sequel film.

In I Am Legend, Smith stared as Robert Neville, the only human in New York City to survive a deadly outbreak that stems from a drug meant to cure cancer which has turned the rest of the population into vampier-like creatures called the Darkseekers. The film grossed over $585.4 million worldwide.
