Ben Foster is all set to headline the environmental thriller Floodplain directed by Tim Sutton. Topic Studios, the production company, also announced that Katherine Waterston, Maria Bakalova, and Justice Smith would be starring in the film.

The logline of Floodplain, released by Topic Studios reads, "Explores themes of family trauma, environmental justice and race via the story of a man (Ben Foster) who must return to his hometown to help prevent a catastrophic flood and confront the mistakes from his past." Other details about the film are still kept under wraps.

Ben Foster has previously collaborated with Topic Studios for the drama film, Leave No Trace (2018). Written by Bill Gullo, Floodplain will be produced by Jordan Horowitz and Annie Marter. The film will be executive produced by Ryan Heller, Michael Bloom and Jennifer Westin for Topic Studios, also financing the project.

The production of the film will reportedly begin later this year. Floodplain is set to be introduced at the upcoming European Film Market, as the film has no distributor yet. There is no release window set for Floodplain yet.

Meanwhile, Ben Foster was last seen in Emancipation (2022). His upcoming films, Finestkind and Long Day's Journey into Night are in the post-production stage.
