Woody Harrelson, Olivia Colman and others to star in Girl from the North Country adaptation

Olivia Colman, Woody Harrelson, Chloe Bailey and Tosin Cole will be starring in a new film inspired by the work of Bob Dylan, Girl from the North Country. The film is an adaptation of the Olivier and Tony Award-winning stage show of the same name. 

Set in Duluth, Minnesota, Girl from the North Country is placed during the Great Depression. It follows the Laine family who owns and operates a guest house full of travellers from all walks of life, attempting to make ends meet. 

Woody will be playing the part of Nick Laine, the father in the family and the owner of the guest house who also tries to find a way to prevent the bank from taking away their home. Olivia will portray Elizabeth Laine, the wife of Nick, who suffers from dementia. Chloe Bailey will play Marianne, the adopted daughter of the Laine couple, who is pregnant and keeps the identity of the father a secret. Lastly, Tosin will be featured as Joe Scott, an escaped convict and a guest in the Laine guesthouse, who strikes up a relationship with Marianne. 

The original playwright of Girl From The North Country, Conor McPherson, is adapting the film for the big screen and will also serve as its director.
