Pennyworth has been cancelled at HBO Max after three seasons. Earlier, two seasons of the show premiered on Epix before HBO Max picked up the show for its third season titled Pennyworth: The Origin of Batman’s Butler

The DC origin series premiered its 10-episode third season on the streamer in October and ran through the end of November. The series told the origin story of Alfred Pennyworth, most famously known as Batman’s butler, who served as a former SAS soldier. Pennyworth forms a security firm in 1960s London. During this time, he begins working with young Thomas Wayne and Martha Wayne. The third season begins after a five-year time when the civil war is over and starts in a new age of superheroes and supervillains.

Pennyworth was based on DC characters created by Bob Kane with Bill Finger. Bruno Heller and Danny Cannon developed the series for television.

Jack Bannon starred as Pennyworth, with Ben Aldridge and Emma Paetz playing Thomas Wayne and Martha Wayne, respectively. The cast included Paloma Faith, Ryan Fletcher, Dorothy Atkinson, Ramon Tikaram, Harriet Slater, and Simon Manyonda.

HBO Max previously announced the cancellation of two other DC shows Titans and Doom Patrol, both ending on the streamer after their fourth seasons.
