Wonka, the recently released Timothee Chalamet film, has emerged out as a Christmas winner, and topped the box office by achieving the $100 million mark. The film has earned $102.5 million in domestic markets and internationally has collected over $270 million.

The film overtook Aquaman: The Lost Kingdom by a huge margin, which has collected $52.5 million in the domestic markets.

A musical drama from Warner Bros, Wonka released early December. Also starring, Calah Lane, Olivia Colman, Hugh Grant, Rowan Atkinson among others, Wonka is directed by Paul King. The film stars Timothee as the titular chocolatier, which is based on the character written by Roald Dahl. It serves as the prequel to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

The film opened to positive reception upon its release. “When blocks of sweet treats can bribe adults, chocolate fountains and death by chocolate are taken in the literal sense, the land of Wonka becomes a beautiful immersion of our childhood times,” reads CE review of the film.
