On Friday, Prime Video took to its social media handles to share the first look images and the release date of the highly anticipated new animated series Batman: Caped Crusader.

“Gotham City nights are on the way. Batman: Caped Crusader, a new series from Bruce Timm, J.J. Abrams, and Matt Reeves, arrives August 1,” Prime Video wrote on Instagram. All the ten episodes are scheduled to hit the platform on the same day.

The first-look images give audiences a special peek into the world of Gotham City, and some of the iconic fan favorite characters that will be featured in the upcoming season.

Catwoman, Harley Quinn, Commissioner Jim Gordon and Clayface, apart from Batman, feature in the series.

Written by Greg Rucka, Ed Brubaker and Bob Kane, Batman: Caped Crusader is set entirely in the 1940s and will follow the events after Batman: The Animated Series. Harley Quinn looks different than her previous appearances. The new show characterizes her as Asian American and also separates her from her longtime partner in crime.

Batman: Caped Crusader was first announced as an HBO Max series in 2021, and then was saved by Amazon Prime Video after Max eventually passed on the project.

The series is produced by Warner Bros. Animation, 6th & Idaho and Bad Robot Productions, while J.J. Abrams, Ed Brubaker, Matt Reeves, Sam Register, and Bruce Timm serve as executive producers.
