Hollywood star Jon Hamm will play the lead role in Your Friends and Neighbors, a new series streaming service Apple TV+.

The project, based on an original idea by acclaimed screenwriter and novelist Jonathan Tropper, has been officially ordered by Apple Studios, a press release said. This brings Hamm back to star in a live-action role after his long-run show Mad Men concluded in 2015.

After starring as the primary role in the third episode of The Morning Show, Jon Hamm is returning to Apple TV with the drama series Your Friends and Neighbors. The opportunity falls under Hamm's lap after his desire to collaborate with the streaming platform two years prior via a commercial ad, where he is urging Tom Hanks to help him land his show.

Hamm, known for starring in shows such as Mad Men, Good Omens and The Morning Show, will essay the role of Coop, a recently divorced hedge fund manager who, after being fired, resorts to stealing from the wealthy residents in his tiny upstate New York suburb in order to keep his family’s lifestyle afloat.

Tropper will serve as showrunner and executive produce via his overall deal with Apple. The series is produced in-house by Apple Studios and counts Hamm and Connie Tavel (Confess Fletch) among its exec producers.

Your Friends and Neighbors marks Tropper’s latest collaboration with the iPhone maker/streamer after he served as showrunner on the Jason Momoa drama See. The best-selling author also counts films The Adam Project, This Is Where I Leave You and Kodachrome among his credits.
