Kraven the Hunter, the upcoming film Spider-Man spin-off from Sony and Marvel and directed by JC Chandor will be "a tragedy", the filmmaker had recently revealed. The film is set to hit the theatres on August 30, 2024.

Kraven the Hunter is inspired by the comic book Kraven's Last Hunt, with Aaron Taylor Johnson portraying the lead titular role.

Speaking to Esquire, the director revealed that the film will be a tragedy. "When the final credits roll on this film, if you’ve been paying attention, you won’t have the feeling that this is all going to end great," he was quoted as saying. The filmmaker also hinted that it will revolve around the character's relationship with his father. Russell Crowe will play the role of the father.

Along with Taylor-Johnson, the film stars West Side Story's Ariana DeBose as Voodoo Priestess Calypso, Fred Hechinger as Kraven's half-brother Dmitri Smerdyakov (a.k.a. Chameleon), and Christopher Abbott reportedly playing primary antagonist the Foreigner.
