 HBO content to reach India through JioCinema

HBO, Max Original and Warner Bros content will be available in India through Reliance's JioCinema from May onwards. Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) and Reliance's Vaicome18  have disclosed a multi-year agreement making the streamer under Viacome18 the new platform for Warner Bros content in India. 

Erstwhile the new deal, the WBD's content was streamed on the  Disney+Hotstar. But the agreement expired, and at the end of  March, and subsequently, WBD removed their content from Disney+Hotstar, except with those shows licenced to third parties. 

According to the reports, the television series' will premiere in India on the same day as the US. The deal includes popular HBO titles such as House of The Dragon, The Last of Us, Succession, The White Lotus, True Detective: Night Country, Euphoria, Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty and Perry Mason, among others. 

Meanwhile, Viacom18 won the IPL digital streaming rights from 2023 to 2027 for $3 billion, which Disney+Hotstar previously held.
