Expendables 4 filmmaker Scott Waugh has added Arnold Schwarzenegger to the cast of his upcoming action thriller Breakout. The actor will lead the film in the role of Terry Reynolds.

Breakout revolves around Terry, who embarks on the journey of breaking his stepson from prison after he is framed and sentenced to serve 25 years in a foreign country. In order to aid his stepson to flee from the country, Terry will have to escape from prison wardens against the race of time.

With Breakout, Schwarzenegger returns to the action genre after the Terminator: Dark Fate franchise instalment. He is currently awaiting the release of his Netflix series Fubar, which will premiere in May.

Waugh, who is presently busy with the fourth instalment of The Expandables series, will helm Breakout from a screenplay by Richard D’Ovidio. The film is based on a story D’Ovidio co-created with Nicole D’Ovidio. Breakout is backed by Anton and Off The Pier Productions.
