We had recently reported that a series titled Welcome to Derry, credited as the prequel to the It horror film franchise, is in the making. The series is set to stream on the newly rebranded streaming platform Max sometime in 2024. The makers have now cast additional actors, including Madeleine Stowe and Stephen Rider.

While not much about the plot is revealed or the characters they will be playing, the prequel series will be set within the It universe. Derry, Maine is the geographical premise where It takes place and is the home of the antagonist Pennywise the Clown. However, the series in all probabilities will not feature Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise and is expected to be set in a period before.

Based on the horror novel by Stephan King, Andy Muschietti, who helmed the big-screen adaptations It and It: Chapter Two, will be directing multiple episodes of the series. Barbara Muschietti and Jason Fuchs are also on board for the project. Fuchs will pen the first episode of Welcome to Derry based on a story by the Muschiettis, and he also serves as show runner along with Brad Caleb Kane.
