Ridley Scott's Napoleon gets release date 

The first look poster of the film starring Joaquin Phoenix as the titular character is out

Napoleon, the upcoming historical action drama directed by filmmaker Ridley Scott, will release in theatres on November 22, Apple Original Films announced. The release will be in partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment.

With screenplay penned by David Scarpa, Napoleon features actor Joaquin Phoenix in the titular role of the French emperor and military leader Napoleon Bonaparte. Napoleon will focus on the world famous ruler's origins, his elevation to being a ruthless emperor through the course of various battles, and strategies.

The film will feature Vanessa Kirby as his wife Josephine. The film is backed by Apple Studios, and Scott Free Productions.

A first look poster was also unveiled during the announcement, which showed Phoenix on the horseback, as he along with his men charge forward in what may be seen as a battleground. The film also stars Tahar Rahim, Ben Miles, Ludivine Sagnier, Matthew Needham, Phil Cornwell, among others.
