HBO releases the first official look at their upcoming series The Last of Us. The series is an adaptation of the popular video game series of the same name. The series revolves around a man named Joel who has to accompany a young girl named Ellie across a post-apocalyptic America that is suffering from a fungal infection that affects humans and turns them aggressive.

The teaser was released on HBO’s official Twitter page with a caption that reads, “Save who you can save.” along with them announcing that the series will arrive in 2023.

The show stars Game of Thrones and Narcos fame Pedro Pascal playing Joel while his GOT co-star Bella Ramsey plays Ellie. Craig Mazin, who rose to fame creating the HBO series Chernobyl, is developing the series along with Neil Druckmann.

Neil Druckmann was earlier attached to develop The Last of Us along with Spiderman director Sam Raimi but due to disagreements with Sony Pictures Entertainment, he dropped out of the project.

The ensemble cast also includes Gabriel Luna, Merle Dandridge, Anna Torv, Nick Offerman, Murray Bartlett, Nico Parker, and Storm Reid. The makers of the series are yet to confirm a release date for the series.
